Catapult Room After Kamikaze Attack, 1944

cabot

The catapult room maanged the steam lines for launching aircraft from Cabot's one catapult. Only the TBM Avenger torpedo bombers would be launched from the catapult as they were much heavier. The F6F Hellcat fighters could take off under their own power. Here is another photograph of the damage to the catapult room after the kamikaze hits of November 25, 1944.
