Lieutenant Cornelius N. Nooy
Lieutenant Cornelius N. Nooy from Smithtown, NY in his F6F-3 Hellcat. Lt. Nooy served with VF-31, serving on USS Cabot (CVL-28) from September 1943 to October 1944. Fifteen of his nineteen totalv victories were scored while with VF-31 aboard Cabot. He is the highest scoring CVL ace and teh fourth highest scoring ace in the U.S. Navy.
